Monday during Mason’s soccer practice Madeleine enjoyed some swinging and girl talk with a little girl from the school. While swinging together Madeleine looks over to the little girl and says “I really like your shoes”. A few minutes later Madeleine shares “these are my playground shoes”. Madeleine LOVES shoes and obviously this is the most important thing to chat about with her new friend. I suppose that is about right. I talk about shoes with all of my friends!
Saturday we attended the Saint Patrick’s Day parade. Patti, Sue, Olivia and Sam joined us on our little adventure. The parade was very very long – over four hours – but we only stayed for about two and a half. Fun was had by all. Madeleine was a little under the weather so she spent most of the time in my arms. Mason and Olivia were busy collecting the treats and toys that the parade walkers were handing out. Even Patti got into the spirit collecting treats in the street. Every time we leave the house Madeleine must spend a few moments gathering her supplies for the day. She always catches someones eye as they laugh at her crazy personality. Everyday Ms Reed (Mason’s teacher) checks out what she has in her daily bag. Today she was wearing a colorful baseball cap with a spinner on the top, a sock puppet that Morgan made from an old sock (full of stuff) and of course her sunglasses. As we walked through Mason’s school today she received tons of looks from the teachers, parents and students. One little boy was looking at her with a big grin and reached down to touch her head. She thought that was so funny. My crazy little silly girl! I wish I had a photo to post. Maybe tomorrow. She has a new look everyday!
It has been a very long time since I have posted. Lots has happened and lots is worthy of a posting, but not quite like this. Today Grandma Susie “won” a trip to Disney from her work. Sue work for Frontier Airlines and they have an employee who take employees and a guest to Disneyland. While we were having breakfast at her house today she got a phone call and found out she is going tomorrow. Aunt Cassandra did not want to send Olivia. She did not want to miss her first trip to Disney, which is understandable. So Mason was next in line and he is going. He will spend the night at grandma’s tonight and leave early for California. They have private plane for the Frontier group, a chartered bus and while at Disney they don’t have to wait in line. What an amazing day. He will fly home tomorrow night…exhausted. We are not going to tell him that he his going. I can’t wait to see the pictures and hear all about the adventure!
When Madeleine wakes up, whether it is 1 am or 6 am, she always greets me with “mourning”. She will usually follow that with some other request (i.e. crying, milk, etc). It is very cute the way that she says it and now as she is getting better with her “words” it is slowing turning into the proper pronunciation of “morning”. I will miss it when it is gone, it always brings a smile to my face!
After many long hours of contemplation we have decided to return to Colorado. Last month I was offered a great job at Schering Plough and we had decided to make New Jersey our home for a little longer. Unexpectedly, Morgan received a call from a recruiter in Denver. After explaining that his wife was getting ready to accept a new job in NJ they convinced him to move forward with an interview. It worked out that he could interview while we were in Colorado on vacation. Not knowing if he would get the job or not I had to accept the job offer here. Long story short….he got the job. It was not an easy decision and I have to admit I cried when I withdrew my acceptance of the offer.
All in all I am exited and looking forward to returing to our home. It will be great to be back with family and friends. I am not sure if I am going to work or not, but it is nice to have the choice. The next couple of weeks will be crazy but I am sure we will get through it somehow. We always do. I am looking forward to settling back into our home and staying there for awhile!
Only four days until my little family gets to board a plane and go back to Colorado. We are leaving on Saturday to spend a whole week there. The last time we were there was May. This wall be the longest trip back since last year for Thanksgiving. I am very exited! We will be celebrating the kids birthdays with all of our family (both sides). My husband and I will have a few dates! The kids will laugh and play with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. I will get to shop, have coffee, lunch and have pedicures with dear friends. I will get to see Jen’s new baby and friends kids who have grown. We are going to spend a day in Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park (see photo). It will be Madeleine’s first real trip to the mountains and I think the first one Mason will really appreciate.
I am afraid I will come back to NJ very homesick. Every time we visit it is hard to leave. Oh well only a few more months until Christmas!
Today is Madeleine’s second birthday. I can’t believe how fast the past two years have gone. She has turned into a beautiful little girl. She is stubborn, strong willed, silly, fun, cuddly, and all girl. She is potty training and wants to go to the bathroom every five minutes. She is very very messy when she eats. She loves shoes, necklaces and having her toes painted. She talks a lot and loves to “go go”. She will “nuggle” (aka snuggle) me anytime I want her too. She gives fish kisses. If she finds a pen she will color on something she is not supposed to. If my glasses, purse, phone or camera are within reach she will take them and run around the house until I catch her or until I reach the count of three. On three she will throw the item across the room and run away. She likes to wear my shoes around the house. I LOVE HER!
I can remember the day we had our ultrasound and how anxious we were to find out if we were having a boy or a girl. I was not sure if I wanted to find out what we were having because I did not want to be disappointed. Part of me wanted another boy – that was easy and comfortable. Part of me wanted a girl – one of each – and I wanted to buy little dresses and send her off to homecoming someday. Now I am happy it was a little girl. Mason and Madeleine are two very unique kids. I don’t know if it because they are different genders or not, but I love that they are so different.
I am so grateful to have two healthy, wonderful kids.
Today is my anniversary. First I am a bad wife. I completely forgot about it until a few days ago. I did not plan anything and I do not have a gift. Life had been super chaotic and time is going very fast. So I forgot. My sweet husband did not forget and arranged a babysitter and dinner reservations for tonight. However, I am sick. Not only am I sick, he is sick and the kids are sick too. Dinner will be cancelled. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
With all that said it has been a good four years. We have moved from Fort Collins to Broomfield, Broomfield to Denver, Denver to NJ. We have bought our first home. Given birth. Raised two beautiful kids. And lots more. There have been lots of good and bad times, but I would not choose any one else to spend my life with. Love you Morgan.
So normally the for a woman the need for shoes is not a bad thing. We as a gender love shoes. But this week it is a bad thing. Over the course of the last week I have lost my four favorite pair of shoes. Now I still have many many more pairs in the closet, but they are the special occasion/outfit pairs. Not the kind you wear everyday. Last Friday my favorite black, closed toed shoes died. The sole is wearing thin and it was time to say goodbye. Tuesday night my dog decided that he was hungry and ate two more pairs. Note, he has never chewed up a pair of shoes before. Earlier in the day I as picking up the house and gathering all of my loose shoes and returning them to the bedroom. First mistake. If I would have left the house a mess I would still have them. Needless to day I awoke to find two shoes chewed up and of course not from the same pair. My favorite brown shoes and my nice black dress shoes (a pair I spent a little more than I should have on). Yesterday at lunch I went shopping for shoes…no luck. Today, wearing my favorite strappy black sandals, the strap gave out. It is a conspiracy. So off to lunch to find any pair that will get me through the day. I am limping due to the broken strap, trying to keep the shoe on my foot. I did find one cute pair of black shoes. Lets hope they last awhile! I will be out again this weekend hunting for another pair of perfect shoes to replace my recent loss!
